Hideki Tojo was born on December 30, 1884 in Tokyo, Japan. He followed his father's footsteps and attended various Military based schools like the Army Cadet school and the Japanese Military Academy. On July 22, 1940 Tojo became War minister by the Prime Minister Konoe. In this position he took part in forming alliance between Germany, Italy and Japan. Tojo influenced expansion of Japan which lead to an oil embargo. On October 16 1941, Konoe resigned from being prime minister and the next day Tojo was appointed to the position of prime minister. On December 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked the Americans at Pearl Harbor. He put himself in command of the army, foreign affairs, commerce, education and the munitions industry. Being an Education Minister, he made the Japanese even more militaristic and nationalist. His power gradually died down and on July 18, 1944 he resigned his position. The plane shown on the left represents the Japanese planes that attacked Pearl Harbor and relate to Hideki Tojo because he had the power of the military during World War 2 and was responsible for the attacks.
FDR was born on January 30th 1882. He was brought into politics in 1911 as a New York State Senator. Later on he served as an assistant secretary in the Navy and unsuccessfully ran for vice president in 1920. Between 1929 and 1932 her served as the governor for New York which made him popular in many states, opening the door for his presidential success in 1933. He was important in WWII because he gave financial support to China and Britain to counter Germany and Japan. He had a big impact in the administration of the United nations and Briton Woods institutions with his diplomatic influence. He passed away at age 63 in April 1945 due to several illnesses. The wheel chair represents his willingness to keep going and supporting allies in the war. He lost his ability to walk ,but he never gave up working hard and influencing many people.
